IJM Land’s annual event encouraging people to lead a healthy lifestyle while supporting a good cause
Seremban, 14 August 2018 – Despite busy lifestyles and hectic schedules, Malaysians were all geared up for the IJM Land Half Marathon 2018, a highly anticipated annual event in the IJM Land calendar which kicked off recently with a bigger, bolder and a more adrenaline-driven running challenge for its seventh consecutive year. An event which attracted immense participation every year, over 9,000 participants including those from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan assembled at Dataran Centrio in Seremban 2 for IJM Land Half Marathon 2018. This event surpassed its previous record of 7,500 participants in 2017 as it captivated a huge interest among the running communities all around Malaysia and the world to not only live healthily, but to also add a meaningful element for the runners in running for a good cause.

Mr Edward Chong, Managing Director of IJM Land Berhad said that IJM Land Half Marathon continues to attract a strong participation and interest among the running community, including members of the Seremban 2 vicinity and its surrounding neighbourhoods as it serves as a platform for IJM Land to bring together the people of Seremban 2 in support of a positive lifestyle. “IJM Land Half Marathon has grown to become one of Malaysia’s highly sought-after running event that draws thousands of local and international runners who crave for that adrenaline rush and challenge. We eagerly look forward to organise this marathon every year as we enjoy running alongside old friends again, while giving support to new runners who enjoyed this versatile sport,” said Mr Edward. ‘Run Together, Bond Stronger’ – a tagline that serves true for IJM Land as the IJM Land Half Marathon also reinforce community bonds and bring people from all walks of life together to enjoy a sport that is filled with adventure, speed and simplicity at its finest. Already in its third year of fundraising, IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 provided runners the chance to add meaning to their favourite sport in support of a good cause. A total of RM 40,000 funds was raised from IJM Land Half Marathon 2018 to be channelled towards two local charities, namely the Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA).
As one of the 10 local developers who was honoured the “All-Star Award – Top Ranked Developers of the Year” at the prestigious StarProperty.my Awards 2018, IJM Land has dedicated the annual event to raise awareness of social and health issues, bringing people together to run towards a positive lifestyle and help raise the standard of living for the underprivileged. “At IJM Land, we are proud to organise the IJM Land Half Marathon as it is a great honour to provide the opportunity to give back to the community and improve the quality of life for less fortunate members of society, even if it’s only in a small way,” said Mr Edward.
Apart from a brand new 5KM route for individuals aged 18 years and above, the marathon also included categories such as a 21KM Half Marathon for adults aged 18 years and above and 12KM route for both juniors aged 13-17 years and adults aged 18 years and above. This coveted run also announced the fastest man and woman of the race who will be in the running to receive the grand IJM Land Half Marathon Challenge Trophy. With the objective of celebrating the runners’ greatest running moments, the unique Challenge Trophy will be accorded to the fastest man and woman who is able to win the title in their respective category for 3 consecutive years, with 2018 being its third year.
All runners who have completed the race regardless of their category took home goodie bags along with a custom-made Finisher Medal and certificate. There were also lucrative lucky draw prizes worth more than RM50,000 up for grabs, and runners who completed the 21KM race also received a custom-made Ultron Micro-dry Finisher Tee. Visitors supporting the runners by the sidelines got to enjoy the camaraderie of the event as well as the marathon evoked a party-like atmosphere with balloon clowns, plenty of free drinks, ice-cream, popcorn, cotton candy and much more to be enjoyed. Runners and visitors were also able to participate in free health screenings provided by IJM Land’s medical partner, Columbia Asia Hospital.
