IJM LAND Designer Award 2016 at Bandar Rimbayu celebrates interior designers…
IJM LAND’s inaugural contest for young and aspiring interior designers iLDA 2016 concluded recently in Bandar Rimbayu bringing forth its Gold Winner, Leo Wong Kwan Theng and Silver winner, Goh Sow Yee. For the last two months, both contestants fully furnished a Penduline showroom in the township under the theme of “Reliving Nostalgic Memories”. Emcee Julie Woon welcomed the guests at the award ceremony in Bandar Rimbayu and gave them an overview about the journey of the contestants. A 6-person jury evaluated more than 100 submitted interior designs to determine who would get to compete in the second round.
The shortlisted participants for the second round took part in a workshop with the collaborating sponsors Signature Kitchen Sdn. Bhd., Urban Culture by Fella Group, Philips Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Jotun Paints (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Inovar Resources Sdn. Bhd. to learn more about their products. Together the sponsors provided an allocated budget of RM150,000 for each of the contestants to use for the interior design of the showrooms. The managing director of IJM LAND, Mr. Edward Chong Sin Kiat, took the stage to talk about the award and contestants.
The IJM Land Designer Award 2016 became a great success thanks to the supporting Gold and Platinum sponsors.
“By organizing this competition, we wanted to give young aspiring interior designers the possibility to put what they have learnt at the university and their workplace to practical use and help them become better and more experienced in their business. When I see how far our two finalists have come from their first submitted design to now having realized their own personal Penduline showroom, I can rightly say that we have more than just reached our goal.” – Mr. Edward Chong Sin Kiat, managing director, IJM LAND Berhad.
Penduline is the name of the latest development in Bandar Rimbayu’s Fauna precinct. The 625 units of well-planned double-storey link homes range from a gross built-up area of 1,771 sq. ft. to 2,283 sq. ft. and offer a variety of layouts. Each of the Penduline houses is built on a land area of 20’ x 70’ with an indicative selling price starting from as low as RM689,000. Penduline’s first and second phase which are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018 are already 90% sold out, but for all those interested, there is also third phase consisting of 244 units which is open for sale right now. After a short video recapping the journey of the contestants in last 9 months, the jury members and sponsors’ representatives were thanked for their support of the award and presented a small token of appreciation before the audience feasted their eyes on the screen to view a Penduline makeover clip highlighting the transformations.
