Dulux and Nala Designs Collaborate for a Colourful Raya Celebration Through a Painting Workshop
Kuala Lumpur, 6 June 2018 – Colours undoubtedly add a splash of colour and excitement to celebrations, which is why Dulux – the leading decorative paint brand of AkzoNobel – and Nala Designs have collaborated to inject colours into the Raya celebrations by hosting a mural and tote bag-painting workshop. Led by the founder of Nala Designs, Lisette Scheers, the workshop was held at Nala Muse in Bangsar Village II and gave attendees a glimpse into the intricacies of creating works of art that is rich in culture. The mural-painting workshop is organised to further showcase the dynamism and innovation of Dulux paints following the completion of the wall murals at Nala Muse which received positive feedback from shoppers. The murals were all created using both Dulux EasyCleanTM Plus and Dulux AmbianceTM Special Effects series of paints.

Dulux EasyCleanTM Plus paints come with KidProof TechnologyTM that repels stains*, making cleaning easier and locking in colours for more vibrant walls, while the Dulux AmbianceTM Special Effects series range can be personalised to create something unique and special. This combination is ideal for creating one-of-a-kind murals that can stand the test of time. It also echoes our products and services commitment, where our products, its colour formulation methods and support services create a fit-for-purpose, lasting colour performance and protection. With over eight decades of experience in paint manufacturing, Dulux is one of the world’s leading colour experts and hopes to bring colour into people’s lives through a wide selection of paints and various creative events that create societal impact. This includes decorative designs for homes, the restoration of historical sites, brand collaborations and mural paintings.

Indra Laban, General Manager of AkzoNobel Decorative Paints Malaysia said: “Dulux is a strong advocate of the power of colours. We believe that colours can transform entire communities and influence how we perceive the world around us. To that end, we would like to take this opportunity to renew our commitment in continually inspiring people with colours. This collaboration with Nala Designs is a sensible one because they are passionate about creating Malaysian-inspired artwork that is vibrant and eye-catching, but more importantly capable of inspiring individuals. This is parallel to what Dulux advocates. In addition, this collaboration is a platform for us to deliver on our promise of producing and delivering consistently accurate coloured paints and coatings to offer customers a dependable application experience.”

Nala Designs began as a stationery brand in 2009, before becoming the fashion boutique and merchandising name it is today. With artwork and motifs inspired by Malaysian heritage, Nala Designs adds life to furniture, walls via murals, and even floors via hand-painted designs. Scheers said: “Colours play an important role in our daily lives, and a great way to make use of colours is to paint, regardless of the canvas. However, painting is somewhat underappreciated today because many think of it is time-consuming and frankly inconsequential. To change this mindset, we have collaborated with Dulux to showcase the power of colours through the painting of walls – not only is this the most impactful way, it’s also one of the most affordable. It’s impactful in the sense that colours can change the way the space you live in looks like, especially when you begin playing around with textures. The colour of your walls can also affect your mood!

“To us, colour is everything and that’s one way we try to distinguish ourselves in the creative industry – by creating products that not only spot eye-catching designs, but showcase our passion for colour.” To learn more about Dulux and their upcoming initiatives, please visit Dulux’s website at: http://www.dulux.com.my or Dulux Malaysia’s Facebook page at:
