

Kuala Lumpur, 8 May 2012 – Kuala Lumpur City Centre is gearing up to host the 25th World Gas Conference (WGC2012), also known as the ‘Olympics of the Gas Industry’, in the coming weeks. To be held from 4 to 8 June, 2012, the triennial World Gas Conference will feature, amongst others, a Concept Village which will accommodate 5,000 industry professionals as well as 10,000 trade visitors.
In preparation for large-scale exhibitions and conferences such as WGC2012, KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, owner of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Sdn Bhd, has expanded its facilities and premises. This includes a new marquee structure, Hall 6, extends the Centre’s current 20,095 sqm capacity by a further 2,600 sqm. Situated between the Mandarin Oriental and the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur (under construction) hotels along Jalan Pinang, Hall 6 connects to the Centre through Exhibition Hall 5 and the Centre’s West Entrance, with a seating capacity of up to approximately 2,000 pax.
“It is our aim to make WGC2012 the most successful and memorable World Gas Conference.To achieve this objective, we require the support of a world class venue which is none other than the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre,” said Datuk Anuar Ahmad, Chairman, National Organising Committee WGC2012 and Executive Vice President, PETRONAS Gas & Power Business.
WGC2012 will utilize all ten halls within the Concept Village, including Hall 6 as well as various function rooms at hotels in the vicinity for its multiple conference proceedings and concurrent meetings.
WGC2012 will also feature 11,400sqm of exhibition space, with 208 companies
showcasing the latest in technologies and developments within the gas
industry.Various activities will be held during this week in conjunction with
WGC2012, including the Kuala Lumpur Music and Lights Festival 2012. There is
also a Youth Conference and Carnival – a congregation of 250 young people
aged between 18 and 30 years who will dialogue with gas industry captains
and participate in various engagements during the same period. The
organizers have also put together an interactive display for young children
between 5 and 17 years at PETROSAINS.
Following the hand-over of Hall 6 to WGC2012, a tree-planting ceremony was
held to commemorate the occasion..
