Creating a bond and inspiring the nation through IJM Land’s exciting marathon




Seremban, 6 August 2019 – Captivating the interest of the nation for eight consecutive years, IJM Land Half Marathon once again brought the nation together recently as they geared to run towards a healthy lifestyle and, at the same time, inspiring Malaysians to lace up and run for a good cause. IJM Land Half Marathon 2019 proved to be a success with over 10,000 avid participants gathered from all walks of life at Dataran Centrio, Seremban 2 to kick-start this highly-anticipated annual event in IJM Land’s calendar.  Apart from raising awareness of healthy living amongst the community and encouraging Malaysians to run for a good cause, Mr Edward Chong, Managing Director of IJM Land Berhad said that IJM Land Half Marathon 2019 is the perfect platform to reinforce a stronger bond among individuals from different backgrounds. “Over the years, this event has garnered more and more participants nationwide and even around the world – making it one of the most sought-after marathons. As reflected in the tagline: ‘Run Together, Bond Stronger’, this exciting adventure brings everyone together as one in support of a positive lifestyle as they create great sporting moments – one of the ways in which IJM Land endeavours to bring everyone who shares the same interests and be able to bond together over a similar passion.”

For the fourth year in a row, funds raised from the IJM Land Half Marathon 2019 were channelled towards two charities, namely the Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA). IJM Land believes everyone deserves the best without exemption and recognises the crucial roles in which each of these organisations plays, therefore improving lives in the slightest way possible. Dedicated to raising awareness and improving the lives of underprivileged, a total amount of RM52,480.00 was raised from IJM Land Half Marathon 2019. “In this annual run, I am pleased to say that every participant here today has contributed towards two exceptional local charities, Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA) and by joining the run, they have not only improved their quality of life by exercising but are also responsible in the betterment of others who need help,” added Mr Edward Chong.


Mr Sean Wang, Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad and Platinum Sponsor for IJM Land Half Marathon 2019, said that working with IJM Land was an opportunity that the Company could not pass up. “Allianz Malaysia is very passionate about running and has been since 2013 when we started our very own Allianz Pacer Running Community. Running may seem solitary, but there is a sense of community there and we were keen to build and foster that community through our running events. IJM Land Half Marathon 2019 included categories of 21KM (Half Marathon) and 12KM for both women and men aged 18 years and above and for girls and boys junior aged 13 years and above, as well as a 5KM fun run for individuals 18 years and above. Celebrity TV Host and News Presenter, Owen Yap joined in this year’s half marathon to run alongside participants while cheering and motivating them as they took every step towards the finishing line. Celebrating the runners’ greatest running moments, IJM Land awarded this year’s fastest man and woman of the 21KM race who came out tops in their respective categories for three years (2019 being its fourth year) with the grand IJM Land Half Marathon Challenge Trophy.


Qualifying participants (who completed the race) regardless of their category took home a finisher medal along with goodie bags. There were also attractive lucky draw prizes worth RM30,000 up for grabs, and runners who completed the 21KM race also received a custom-made Full Sublimation Finisher Tee.
