IJM Land brings a fresh start to 14 elders of Seremban’s old folk’s home this Chinese New Year

Seremban, 5 February 2021 – To add in to the festivities of the Chinese New Year celebration, IJM Land put their best foot forward in bringing new hope and festive cheer to the elderlies of Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Usia Emas Tong Sim Seremban during their ‘New Year, New Hope’ programme – with the desire of giving these old folks a joyous and memorable Chinese New Year. Apart from their annual Chinese New Year Charity Programme that was held recently where three underprivileged families were blessed with daily essentials and monetary support, IJM Land decided to extend their goodwill towards the elderlies from an old folk’s home in the Seremban community. With the global health crisis growing weary, many have been faced with financial struggles to the point where acquiring necessities felt like a heavy load to carry, and caretakers are solely depending on outside contributions due to limited financial support.

Dato’ Hoo Kim See, Senior General Manager of IJM Land Berhad said that there are numerous homes in need of assistance amidst festive seasons, however due to the current movement control order (MCO), restrictions have affected them emotionally, physically and financially. “Elderlies often need extra care and affection, and we understand the importance of them being visited by their loved ones to ease their emotions. At IJM Land, we are committed to being agents of joy to the less fortunate and positively impacting the lives of those in need within our community.”

Led by Dato’ Hoo and IJM Land staff members, Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Usia Emas Tong Sim Seremban – housing 14 elderlies and one full-time caretaker – was decorated with Chinese New Year ornaments to bring a cheerful aura to the home and to have a fitting New Years. In addition to handing out an angpow blessing and goodies bag to all elderlies, IJM Land also contributed a 2-Door Chiller worth over RM3,000, grocery items including festive cookies, Yee Sang, fresh fruits, Milo and oats, as well as medical face masks that are now considered essential use due to the current pandemic. Dato’ Hoo emphasised that giving does not lie only in terms of monetary support, but also by fostering closer relationships in recognising the needs of the less fortunate and providing them with the necessities and support they require.

Through this programme, we are not only helping those in need but we are here to share our experiences with society in the hopes to encourage them to embrace the spirit of giving this Lunar New Year,” said Dato’ Hoo. “Our hearts go out to all who have been battling through the struggles amidst the pandemic. We believe that our contributions to the old folks of Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Usia Emas Tong Sim Seremban will enable a festive New Year celebration that they will cherish for years to come,” Dato Hoo concluded.
