DARC in Denai Alam welcomes visitors near and far.
It’s not everyday one gets a chance to ride or even see a horse!

Recreation clubs, especially those offering horse-riding lessons, are always assumed to carry a premium membership cost. That’s not the case here at the Denai Alam Recreation and Riding Club (DARC).
Located in the community of Denai Alam, Selangor, this recreational center is the brainchild of Terry Teo’s, an avid horse enthusiast himself.
The idea to create DARC was spawned through his love for the animal and a wanting to share the usually hard-to-access experience with the everyday person. And more importantly, create an affordable family experience not soon to forget.
Nearing its second year in operation, DARC is attracting visitors far and wide, offering a range of activities from horse-riding, to archery, even to a mini motocross experience for the kids.
The best part about DARC is its annual membership fee, which only costs RM180 per family. With this, members get free access to DARC facilities like the splash pool, trampoline, dart room and gym.
Aside from that, a free joyride session on the horses will be given to members, plus discounts on horse riding and archery packages.
For those wondering how DARC makes it money with such low prices, the fact is it doesn’t; DARC is established as a non-profit NGO. The ultimate goal is to create a social center to enrich the community.
Terry says that this is where anyone is welcomed to visit and have fun in good times or in bad – a home away from home. And one of the main focuses here is to bring joy to under-privileged children.
“The only time orphans are given attention is once a year during the Raya month. Here we try our best to bring them fun every week.”
One of the ways DARC connects with the people is via events; frequently held so that everyone can simply share a good time within DARC’s community.
You can even reserve the place for your private functions. The best part comes every weekend, where DARC welcomes all members to a free Nasi Padang lunch feast!
The membership and fees, according to Terry is just a contribution to the efforts here. No doubt running a fully equipped club is no easy task; they’ll need to hire workers, man the kitchen, maintain facilities and see to the 40 horses.
Value for money is an understatement here, as the services and packages offered are of top pedigree and some are not found anywhere else. At the end of the day, even if there’s no profit coming in, gaining smiley points are as equally satisfying.
DARC is indeed an experience that can’t be found as affordable anywhere else as it is here, so saddle up!
