TIMA recognizes most-valued contributions to quality of life in Iskandar Malaysia.
The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) recently announced a new initiative to raise the standard of property and living in Iskandar Malaysia under the Iskandar Malaysia Property Action (IMPACT). The IMPACT programme was initiated in collaboration or partnership with various parties and key stakeholders in order to curb an impending property bubble in Iskandar Malaysia. They also include other diverse issues related to the local property sector. One of the leading ways to address the mismatch and shortfall (shortcomings) between demand and supply in the real estate market is via awards, and giving due recognition to the contributors to property growth and development in Malaysia. Henceforth, The Iskandar Malaysia Accolades (TIMA) was launched by the Johor Chief Minister during the recently concluded Iskandar Malaysia Open Day (IMOD) opening ceremony at Komtar JBCC (Johor Bahru City Centre) from April 23 – 24, 2016.
Since Nov 2014, TIMA has brought together relevant government agencies, professional bodies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in relation to IRDA’s subject matters and expertise. The main objective of TIMA is to recognize and reward projects and practices that are in line with Iskandar Malaysia’s targets and objectives, specifically related to sustainability and social equity. Some of the more prominent categories include “The Most Balanced Community”, “The Most Liveable Residence”, “The Most Conducive Workplace”, “The Most Happening Place”, “The Most lmpactful lnvestment” and “The Most Relaxing Environment.” TIMA embodies real estate excellence and provides real property value that positively impacts the community as well as society at large.
According to Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, the CE of IRDA, TIMA is different from other property awards as it looks from the viewpoints and perspectives of the community and society at large not the developers and the projects themselves. TIMA is not limited to mainstream projects per se, but also revolves around secondary properties within existing residential areas, investment and infrastructure projects, as well as places of interest with environmental significance, and other tourist attractions. Nominated projects are finalized or shortlisted based upon special criteria or prerequisites such as green features, property value appreciation and sustainable management, as well as fundamental contributions to key performance targets on smart city, low-carbon society, socio-economy, investments, as well as a balanced community and racial harmony.
There is also a special award called “Value Champion” which is dedicated to an external stakeholder in championing IRDA’s core values of Envision. Enable, Engage, with Integrity and International Standing, as well as epitomizing Iskandar Malaysia’s vision and mission to becoming a “Strong and Sustainable Metropolis of International Standing.” The eventual winners of TIMA 2016 will be decided via final scoring tabulated from the TIMA Committee, an independent judging panel comprising industry professionals and the general public. The nationwide voting process will take place through the respective social media portals. Who will be adjudged the winners of Iskandar Malaysia’s inaugural property award? Who will be crowned as the first-ever TIMA winner for providing the most valued contribution to the quality of life in Iskandar Malaysia? The accolades or awards ceremony will be held during a Gala Dinner scheduled for Nov 2016, in conjunction with Iskandar Malaysia’s 10th Anniversary celebrations. – HFM
