IJM Land returns for the second time to help three underprivileged families in Seremban this ‘Festival of Lights’ celebration

Seremban, 21 October 2019As we look forward to the ‘festival of lights’ celebration, IJM Land Berhad has made it their mission to provide support and extend joyfulness to three underprivileged families in Seremban by organising in its second year, the ‘Deepavali Charity Cheer’ Programme, aim  to lend a helping hand to unfortunate families to prepare for the upcoming festival. In conjunction with Deepavali, IJM Land hopes to instill awareness that the needful should not be forgotten during joyful occasions by reaching out and spreading compassion and goodwill among underprivileged families – where IJM Land provided them with monetary support of RM500 and groceries worth RM500, in the hopes of making a positive difference in their lives.

The IJM Land Deepavali Charity Cheer Programme team lead by Dato’ Hoo Kim See, Senior General Manager (Central Region) of IJM Land Berhad (front left) together with honorable guest (front right) Yang Berhormat Tuan Arul Kumar A/L Jambunathan, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Bertindak Sumber Manusia, Perladangan dan Hal Ehwal Bukan Islam (Exco & Adun Nilai) bringing Deepavali cheer and support to Sandrakhanda and her family.

Dato’ Hoo Kim See, Senior General Manager (Central Region) of IJM Land Berhad said that we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, support and kindness, therefore this initiative allows the less fortunate to come along as one family and celebrate this occasion with joy. “At IJM Land, we believe that it is our core responsibility to provide our community with the necessities during this festive season, and we hope to make a positive impact in the lives of the less fortunate,” said Dato’ Hoo.

Celebrations need not be confined in our own homes, consequently we gather annually with the underprivileged to celebrate festive occasions, in the efforts to spread happiness among families.” The initiative was led by Dato’ Hoo and staff members of IJM Land Berhad, who were also joined by honorable guest YB Tuan Arul Kumar A/L Jambunathan, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Bertindak Sumber Manusia, Perladangan dan Hal Ehwal Bukan Islam (Exco & Adun Nilai). Goodie bags comprising grocery items of rice, cooking oil, flour, cookies and others were distributed to three families to lessen their burden in preparation for upcoming Deepavali celebration.

Additionally, a sum of donation was handed over to each family in an attempt to ignite smiles on their faces during the celebration. Among the recipients is 28-year-old Letchumy, who works as a dish washer at a local restaurant in Seremban to support her three young children, age 5 to 10, who are also not schooling due to lack of funds and ineffable hardships in her life. IJM Land also provided the kids with toys, stationeries and flashcards to learn at home and has put in the extra effort to work with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat to assist Letchumy’s youngest son in obtaining a birth certificate.

Dato’ Hoo asserted that providing assistance to those in need goes beyond monetary support, donation or contribution in kind – but it can be in the form of visiting them and understanding their needs and background, to give them the help that they truly need. Dato’ Hoo also encourage for the public to take the initiative and opportunity to contribute and make a difference in the community we live in – especially during festive seasons where kindness is needed.
